Our Approach
The superior FCR and reduced mortality observed for treatment 2A168S5 (Devoro) could be due to
i) application of the Devoro (Cafo Pros) formulation 5 day before the start of Trial 2 as opposed to application at one day before the start of Trial 1,
ii) Quadrupling the amount of water used to mix the Devoro (Cafo Pros) Formula for application (i.e. 2 gallons of water + 4g Devoro Formulation in trial 1 compared to 16gallons of water + 8 g of Devoro (Cafo pros) Formulation in Trial 2); and iii) the addition of a supplement into the mixture.
NCU Conclusion
From the results of the two trials conducted in this study, it was concluded that treating broiler house litter with a mixture of 16 gallons of water + 8 g of Devoro (Cafo Pros)+ 2 Ounces of Supplement at 5 days before chick placement can considerably reduce ammonia emission, improve feed efficiency, and reduce mortality in broiler flocks. It is recommended that Devoro Inc (Compoost) should seek opportunities to collaborate with major poultry companies to conduct further testing of their Bacillus subtilis-based formulation(s) in field trials in commercial and turkey houses.
